Description
This live-action re-creation of life and conditions in early America includes maps and period graphics to give the geographical and historical importance of pioneer life in United States history. Pioneer settlers were an independent, self-sufficient people. They traveled westward through the wilderness living off the land. When they built their cabins, they learned the skills necessary to make all of the household things that they needed. Some of them raised sheep on partially cleared land. The sheep’s wool provided the pioneer women with fibers for the spinning of yarn. The entire process of spinning is explained as we watch nimble fingers guide the rough wool into smooth thread. The self-sufficiency of the pioneer family is an important legacy in American history and culture.
